Strategic Partnership Manager WHTT
I have always been a fan of gaming, especially puzzle/RPG games, and it appears that geekiness has crossed into my professional life. Just like Tetras, a business can be likened to a game of moving parts so I would say my strength is that I am a super-connector: the connecting solution to the problem, product to specification, expertise to queries.
Sometimes things just drop out of the sky that you can’t predict (I won’t mention that dreaded C word), so I have learnt to be agile and make quick, impactful strategic decisions that can create a win for the team and me.
How does your strength play into the work:
In my previous role as director of sales for Revinate, I had the privileged to help enterprises to ‘connect the dots’ within their organisations. Bringing together siloed departments and streamlined inter-department processes through the unification of their guest data. We had a great brunch of inhouse experts who knew their stuff, and my role was to find customers find root causes to their pain points and work with them to align solutions or expertise required to future proof their business to their vision.
Imagine your best hospitality / hotel experience – what does it look like?
Post Covid – I’ll probably faint from the sheer excitement being able to board a long-haul flight. My dream hotel experience would be culturally immersed with its surroundings and community. For example, their physical presence would blend in with the environment, and their services offerings would enable guest to experience the rich culture of the country.
There’s a special feeling when a hotel is actively wanting to know you and wanting to curate a unique experience just for you, but it’s all done seamlessly without the ‘hard sell’. The best hospitality experiences that are comparable to what I have described would be Alila Ubud, early adopters of pre-arrival guest preference capture. I got really excited about choosing my preferred pillows before my stay! The attention to detail in the service in such beautiful surroundings made this an unforgettable experience.
What brings you the greatest joy at work?
Seeing others succeed with a tool or a piece of advice you have shared with them, gives me the highest sense of satisfaction. It’s very humbling to know that I have assisted in removing the blocker for someone to achieve their goals.
My advice for women in hospitality and travel-tech:
Leverage your network, don’t be shy about reaching out to strangers if you have a question or in need of assistance for a project or career opportunity. We work within one of the best industries where hospitality is a core value for most of us.
That makes us the friendliest bunch of professionals out there.
